Role Overview

Join a dedicated air medical transport team operating Bell 407 helicopters under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) in Blythe, California. As a Helicopter Pilot, you will play a vital role in delivering timely, safe, and compliant emergency medical flights. You are responsible for ensuring aircraft readiness, executing precise flight operations, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance in alignment with Federal Aviation Regulations and company policy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-flight inspections and confirm aircraft airworthiness by completing required documentation, including the Daily Flight Log.
  • Perform thorough walk-around checks before and after each flight to verify mechanical and operational integrity.
  • Exercise final authority over aircraft operations and the safety of all on board, including crew, patients, and equipment.
  • Ensure full familiarity with aircraft systems and medical configurations, and support the medical team’s understanding of onboard systems.
  • Complete all necessary flight records and operational reports accurately and on time.
  • Plan flights efficiently with limited notice, meeting exacting safety and navigational standards.
  • Engage in regular company meetings, training initiatives, safety programs, and community outreach efforts.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned to support mission success.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be under 70 years of age and maintain a weight at or below 250 pounds.
  • Valid FAA First or Second Class Medical Certificate.
  • Commercial Single-Engine Land rating for single-engine operations; Multi-Engine rating required for twin-engine aircraft.
  • Instrument rating appropriate to aircraft category and class (ATP rating satisfies this requirement).
  • Minimum 2,000 total flight hours, with at least 1,500 in category.
  • 1,000 hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) in category.
  • 500 hours of turbine-powered rotor wing experience.
  • 200 hours cross-country flight time, including 50 hours at night.
  • 100 hours of unaided night flight as PIC; up to 50 hours may be substituted with NVG time, but minimum unaided night requirement is 50 hours.
  • 50 hours of actual or simulated instrument time in rotor wing aircraft (reduced to 25 hours with 100+ hours of fixed-wing instrument time).
  • Recent flight experience: must have flown in category within the past 24 months.
  • Consistent availability for a 7-day-per-week schedule with 12-hour shifts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.

Technical Knowledge

  • Proficiency with Bell 407 aircraft systems.
  • Thorough understanding of Visual Flight Rules (VFR), Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), and company General Operations Manual (GOM).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $82,900 – $93,251 annually; up to $121,226 with 130% ACCRA adjustment.
  • $15,000 sign-on bonus and experience stipend of up to $12,000.
