Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary legal advisor for the health division, guiding compliance across U.S. healthcare regulations and privacy laws during product development and scaling.
- Provide counsel on telehealth regulations, including corporate practice of medicine, multi-state licensing, anti-kickback statutes, prescribing rules, and state-specific requirements.
- Collaborate with Product, Marketing, Privacy, and Operations teams to deliver timely, practical legal guidance on marketing, user acquisition, and product decisions.
- Advise on U.S. data privacy laws as they relate to health and related data, including HIPAA/HITECH, state health privacy laws, and comprehensive state privacy regimes.
- Apply context-specific analysis to classify sensitive data and determine compliance obligations across the user lifecycle.
- Develop and implement policies and internal frameworks for managing health and sensitive user data responsibly and in compliance with legal standards.
- Support strategic evolution of the health business, including formation of a dedicated health entity, telemedicine and pharmacy expansion, and partner relationships.
- Establish and scale compliance programs from inception, including HIPAA readiness, data governance, training, and incident response, in coordination with legal and privacy teams.
- Address commercial needs by reviewing and negotiating vendor contracts, data agreements, and engaging outside counsel on specialized healthcare matters.
- Work across Legal, Privacy, and Compliance functions to assess risk, create practical solutions, and enable safe, rapid business growth.
