Join Jobgether as a Health Information Management Specialist, playing a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, security, and compliance of patient health records. In this remote position, you will be responsible for processing medical record requests, performing audits, and managing the release of information while adhering to HIPAA regulations and company policies.
What You'll Do
- Receive, process, and respond to patient health information requests in compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Ensure confidentiality and limit access to sensitive patient records to authorized individuals only.
- Collaborate with clinical teams, facilities, and providers to maintain accurate healthcare documentation and compliance standards.
- Verify patient information and dates of service prior to releasing medical records.
- Perform audits of records to ensure documentation standards and quality metrics are met.
- Track and analyze patient data to identify areas for improvement and recommend process enhancements.
- Maintain and manage database inquiries related to medical records.
- Assist in developing and optimizing workflows to enhance efficiency in records management.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Associate’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Familiarity with auditing, billing, and coding processes.
- Experience navigating major EMR systems and developing workflows.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, communication, and collaboration tools.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to self-manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, remote environment.
