City of New York - Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) is hiring a Health Data User Researcher, Bureau of Data Technology & Strategy

Responsibilities

  • Lead discovery workshops with internal teams and external partners to identify needs for data tools and their impact on decision-making processes.
  • Convert insights from research sessions into clear user flows, stories, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes for data platforms and services.
  • Participate in strategic visioning discussions while exploring, designing, and testing concepts for data-driven products.
  • Inform design choices using technical insights from data engineering, feedback from stakeholders, and the structure of the public health data platform.
  • Recognize challenges in user experience and develop efficient, effective, and practical design solutions.
  • Apply human-centered design principles with an emphasis on rapid prototyping and iterative testing.
  • Work closely with team members and stakeholders across organizations to align on goals and execution.
  • Encourage innovation by posing thoughtful questions, embracing calculated risks, and promoting creative problem-solving.
