Responsibilities
- Supervise and guide the in-house international Legal team.
- Provide practical advice and support on various legal issues in a fast-paced environment.
- Research, anticipate and guard Company against legal risks.
- Supervise drafting and management of agreements, including customer, license and supplier agreements (often under English law).
- Manage our IP portfolio around the world and protect it from infringement, in cooperation with outside advisors.
- Support our software development and sales, including licensing and open-source issues.
- Manage legal aspects of M&A transactions.
- Adhere to, and implement procedures, policies and work instructions as per PeopleCert’s Integrated Management System.
- Advise on legal, regulatory and ethical aspects of AI systems, including data protection, automated decision-making and risk classification.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent
- Proven experience and exposure in English law
- Excellent command of the English language (C2 level certification desired, LanguageCert C2 LTE or C2 IESOL certificate would be a plus)
- Advanced computer literacy is required
- Proven track record of leading legal teams, with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, negotiation and verbal/written communications skills
- Well-organized, able to be a team player and motivator, self-driven, flexible and able to work in a high-volume, fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
- High level of professionalism, integrity and confidentiality
- High level of professionalism and ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels

Nice to Have
- Master of Laws (LLM) from a top university will be an asset
- Experience in IP-driven businesses is highly desirable
- ECDL Advance level certification is desirable
- Familiarity with AI tools and technologies (including generative AI), and understanding of their legal, regulatory and ethical implications in a business environment

Additional Information
- Any person who is engaged by PeopleCert to work on the SELT service must undergo a Background Check (the results of which must be acceptable to PeopleCert and the HO) prior to commencing their SELT duties. All SELT personnel will be required to complete a declaration (provided by PeopleCert) where the existence of any criminal record and/or bankruptcy must be declared. If working on the SELT service in the UK, background checks will include: - A basic or enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check - Right to Work in the UK check (including nationality, identity and place of residence) - HO security check (Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) or Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) - Financial background check - Employment reference check. If working on the SELT service anywhere in the world (outside of the UK) personnel will undergo background checks that are equivalent to those stated for the UK. In addition, if personnel are required to speak to SELT candidates they must be appropriately skilled in English language and, where SELT services are provided anywhere in the world (outside of the UK), the official language of the relevant country.
