About the Role

Black & Veatch is looking for a Graduate Architect to join our Federal Business team, providing support on architectural deliverables and projects for clients like the Department of Defense and the US Army Corps of Engineers. You’ll gain foundational experience while contributing to the team’s success.

What You'll Do

  • Contribute to the preparation of less complex architectural deliverables like drawings, reports, specifications, and studies.
  • Read, understand, and apply departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable codes, and company policies.
  • Perform routine research and develop recommendations for equipment and materials selection.
  • Collect, assimilate, and manage data for architectural work.
  • Prepare basic architectural calculations following standard methods and principles.
  • Understand and adhere to project budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement and change management efforts.
  • Coordinate with others as directed and share information when requested.
  • Focus on internal client needs while learning about external client drivers.
  • May provide support to business development activities.
  • Share current knowledge of latest technology and processes.

What We're Looking For

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in architecture from an NAAB or recognized accredited program.
  • No prior professional experience required.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, including background checks and a drug screen.

Nice to Have

  • Current enrollment and participation in an Intern Development Program (IDP).
  • Preferred skills include: learning on the fly, problem solving, intellectual horsepower, written communications, drive for results, informing, listening, and dealing with ambiguity.
  • Basic knowledge of architectural design principles, applicable design guides, and standards.
  • Basic industry knowledge, awareness of technology trends, and understanding of the company quality program.
  • Basic knowledge of construction and constructability practices and principles.

Team & Environment

You will be part of the Black & Veatch Federal Business team, which provides Architecture/Engineering (A/E) and Classified Design Services, Construction Designer of Record (DOR) Services, Environmental Services, and Integrated Services to federal clients.
