About the Role
The Global Payroll Specialist will oversee payroll processing for employees across Europe and Africa, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to regional labor laws and tax requirements.
Responsibilities
- Process monthly payroll for employees in multiple European and African countries
- Verify payroll data for accuracy and completeness prior to submission
- Collaborate with local HR and finance teams to resolve discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with local tax regulations and statutory requirements
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation in assigned regions
- Prepare and submit statutory filings and reports on time
- Coordinate with third-party payroll providers where applicable
- Support year-end payroll activities and audits
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay and deductions
- Reconcile payroll accounts and investigate variances
- Manage employee leave and time-off accruals in payroll systems
- Implement payroll changes due to employment status or location
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee data
- Assist in payroll process improvements and system upgrades
- Track and report on payroll metrics and key performance indicators
- Support onboarding and offboarding payroll setup for new and departing staff
- Ensure proper documentation for all payroll-related actions
- Stay informed about changes in currency exchange and international banking
- Work closely with global mobility teams on assignee compensation
- Assist with special payroll projects as needed
- Promote consistency in payroll practices across regions
- Escalate complex issues to senior payroll staff when necessary
- Contribute to internal and external audit preparations
- Support training initiatives for payroll system users
- Maintain accurate payroll records for compliance and reporting
