IQ-EQ is hiring a Global Infrastructure Engineer to manage our Microsoft SQL Server database estate across production, UAT, and development environments. You’ll be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance tuning, and disaster recovery while supporting application upgrades and global infrastructure operations.
What You'll Do
- Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases for high availability and optimal performance.
- Implement and manage robust database backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Monitor and tune databases to ensure peak performance and scalability, including optimizing SQL queries and indexing strategies.
- Maintain data integrity and accuracy through continuous monitoring and regular audits.
- Diagnose and resolve database-related issues quickly and effectively.
- Perform database migrations, upgrades, and patches with minimal downtime.
- Conduct capacity planning and forecasting for system growth and resource requirements.
- Support the SQL server estate across Prod, UAT, and Dev environments.
- Use tools like SQL Sentry and SSMS to ensure databases are running to optimal standards.
- Perform index maintenance to speed up query execution and reduce system load, including reorganizing indexes and updating statistics.
- Assist in query design for new or existing applications, ensuring optimal structure and performance.
- Document changes to database structure, configurations, and performance.
- Assist in the generation of SQL reports required for the business.
- Resolve audit findings through the change management process.
- Provide support in application upgrades and releases.
- Perform routine data updates and patches.
- Assist in the support of disaster recovery procedures.
- Ensure SQL server workloads are distributed evenly across the infrastructure.
What We're Looking For
- A graduate degree, preferably in IT-related disciplines.
- Strong risk and security awareness.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
- Experience with SQL failover clustering and availability groups, and transparent data encryption.
- Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and Reporting Services (SSRS).
- Experience with SQL Server on a variety of operating systems.
- Fully proficient spoken and written English.
Nice to Have
- Microsoft Certifications.
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL.
- Experience working in a complex, multi-country professional services, financial services, or BPO organisation with complex processing requirements.
- Multi-country experience and an ability to work in a multi-cultural, talented, and demanding team environment.
- The skills and personality to operate effectively in a very fast-paced complex global business, with an in-depth knowledge of program management.
