Hanson Professional Services Inc., an employee-owned consulting firm, is seeking a Geospatial Discipline Manager to lead a team of geospatial professionals. In this role, you will oversee geospatial projects, apply advanced survey methods, and collaborate with stakeholders to define GIS strategies and solutions.
What You'll Do
- Lead and manage a team of geospatial professionals including GIS analysts, surveyors, technicians, and specialists.
- Oversee and perform tasks related to LIDAR, photogrammetry, boundary research, and field surveys.
- Guide teams in developing plats, extracting data, and building engineering models from various sources.
- Acquire and process remotely sensed data for use by engineers and technical staff.
- Manage day-to-day operations and mentor staff across experience levels.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define GIS strategies and solutions.
- Apply advanced survey methods using robotic total stations, 3D terrestrial scanners, GPS, mobile mapping systems, and aerial mapping techniques.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geography, GIS, or related field—or equivalent experience/training.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in geospatial projects and GIS data analytics.
- Minimum 5 years of team management experience.
- Experience leading teams in both field and office environments.
- Proficiency with Trimble Business Center and ArcGIS.
- Familiarity with traditional surveying methods and practices.
- Strong leadership and people management capabilities.
- Ability to manage projects and tasks within budget and schedule.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Self-motivated with a desire to continuously learn and grow.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to collaborate remotely with colleagues across multiple offices.
- Willingness to travel and work overtime as needed. Up to 20% travel.
- Valid driver’s license.
Nice to Have
- Experience applying geospatial technologies to asset management programs.
- Surveyor-in-Training (S.I.T.), Professional Land Surveyor (PLS), or GIS Professional (GISP) certification (preferred or ability to obtain).
- Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Pix4D, and TopoDOT.
