Illumina, Inc. is looking for a Genomics Sales Representative (Inside Sales – Greater Boston Remote) to position and sell our portfolio of genomics products and solutions creatively and professionally within a designated region. You will engage new and existing customers, understand their project needs, and collaborate closely with internal and field-based sales team members to drive growth.
What You'll Do
- Develop a strong understanding of Illumina’s technology and products, continuing to learn as the portfolio evolves.
- Establish and execute strategies for obtaining new customers and maintaining/growing existing accounts to meet revenue goals.
- Effectively sell the total Illumina product portfolio, including Consumables, Instrumentation (Cap Ex), and Professional Services.
- Make outbound contact to existing and prospective customers to identify sales opportunities.
- Take an analytical approach to execute optimal solutions for an issue or opportunity.
- Present versatile and unique solutions during customer negotiations to establish mutually beneficial circumstances.
- Learn, change, and gain from each experience to become more effective in subsequent sales scenarios.
- Work effectively in a team environment to drive and create revenue opportunities.
- Manage customer relationships post-sale, including a strategy to develop long-term business relationships.
What We're Looking For
- A B.A. or B.S., preferably in Biology or Genetics.
- A strong Genetics and Molecular Biology foundation to understand customer applications and uncover sales potential.
- 4+ years of experience in a Life Science laboratory, a Sales role, or a related field with customer-facing experience.
- Ability to conduct presentations effectively, professionally, and comfortably to customers, peers, and management.
- Self-motivation to continue learning beyond initial onboarding.
- A demonstrated desire to be an effective collaborator within a team selling environment and a willingness to give and seek feedback.
- Strong desire to win and build customer relationships.
- An approach to tasks with urgency and a willingness to plan, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
Nice to Have
- A Master’s or Ph.D. in Biology or Genetics.
- Experience with strategic sales skills and a proven ability to develop and grow key accounts.
- Knowledge of Next Generation Sequencing and Genotyping methods.
Team & Environment
You will partner closely with other internal and field-based members of the sales team.

- Compensation: $80,900 - $121,300
- Eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.

Work Mode
This is a local-country remote role for the Greater Boston area, with other locations including Massachusetts and San Diego, CA.
