Role Overview
Join a remote accounting team supporting U.S.-based businesses across diverse sectors. As a General Accountant, you'll take ownership of end-to-end accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely financial reporting. Your work will directly support client financial integrity and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute full-cycle accounting tasks including journal entries, accruals, and general ledger upkeep
- Prepare and verify balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Support month-end and year-end closing procedures with precision and timeliness
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including billing, collections, and vendor coordination
- Perform bank, credit card, and account reconciliations, maintaining thorough documentation
- Recognize revenue in line with accounting standards and business operations
- Ensure all records comply with U.S. GAAP and internal controls
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to resolve payment or reporting discrepancies
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Assist in audit support, tax preparation, and 1099 reporting
- Support budgeting and forecasting initiatives with accurate data and insights
- Maintain organized records and audit trails for all accounting activities
- Work cross-functionally to troubleshoot and resolve financial issues
Qualifications
Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, along with 3–7 years of hands-on accounting experience. Experience with U.S. clients or U.S. financial reporting standards is essential. You must be proficient in U.S. GAAP and comfortable using accounting platforms such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Xero, or Sage.
Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills are required, as is fluency in written and spoken English. The ideal candidate works independently, demonstrates sharp analytical abilities, and maintains a high level of accuracy in a remote setting.
Preferred Background
- CPA certification (U.S. or Philippines) is highly valued
- Experience serving multiple U.S. clients, especially in SaaS, tech, eCommerce, or professional services
- Familiarity with tools like Bill.com, Stripe, Gusto, ADP, Expensify, or Ramp
- Prior work in offshore or outsourced accounting environments
Work Environment
This is a fully remote position requiring availability during U.S. Eastern Time business hours (e.g., 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST). You’ll need a reliable internet connection, a quiet workspace, and a personal computer capable of running standard accounting software. The role emphasizes autonomy, clear communication, and consistent follow-through.
