Responsibilities
- Lead functional safety compliance initiatives for energy storage systems with emphasis on UL 1998, UL 991, and UL 5500 standards.
- Support certification processes and ensure product development aligns with functional safety regulations.
- Apply functional safety methodologies to both hardware and software components of energy storage systems.
- Lead the creation of failure mode analyses, hazard assessments, safety justifications, and testing approaches.
- Represent the company in standards committees to influence future energy storage safety requirements.
- Engage with Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories to establish compliance programs and secure timely product approvals.
- Collaborate with engineering and product development teams to embed safety requirements into design workflows.
- Convert detailed safety standards into practical, implementable requirements for technical teams.
- Offer expert guidance on functional safety practices and ensure design adjustments meet compliance targets.
- Create, document, and carry out strategies to mitigate hazards and validate system safety.
- Support verification and testing efforts to confirm safety performance of energy storage solutions.
- Work with internal and external parties to identify and resolve safety and compliance concerns early.
- Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and design units to improve safety integration in product cycles.
- Maintain active relationships with certification agencies and industry stakeholders to track regulatory changes.
