Hotel Equities is hiring a Front Desk Agent/Night Auditor to join our team in West Edmonton. This combined role works three front desk shifts (days/afternoons) and two Night Audit shifts per week. You will be responsible for providing professional and courteous service to guests, handling all front desk operations, and ensuring accurate nightly financial reporting.
What You'll Do
- Greet and welcome guests upon arrival, register guests, verify reservations, address, and credit information.
- Accept payment for guests' accounts at registration and checkout, maintain a house bank, and make daily deposits.
- Issue keys, control access to safety deposit boxes, and post miscellaneous charges.
- Promptly respond to and resolve guest complaints.
- Answer telephones promptly and politely.
- Take reservations, perform check-ins, and perform check-outs accurately and efficiently.
- Greet and seat guests in the restaurant to ensure a quality dining experience.
- Greet every guest with a smile and positive attitude, handling difficult situations diplomatically.
- Assist guests with luggage upon arrival and departure.
- Use guests' names and be knowledgeable about the local area, hotel, and hotel services.
- Handle messages, wake-up calls, mail, and faxes properly.
- Assist guests with laundry/dry cleaning needs.
- Be aware of incoming VIPs.
- Follow all applicable Company Standard Operating Procedures.
- Perform other assignments as directed by the General Manager.
- Be an enthusiastic, helpful, and positive team member.
- Maintain open communication with each department and communicate pertinent information.
- Be available to help other departments in emergency situations.
- Adhere to all work rules, procedures, and policies.
- Properly handle and account for keys and be knowledgeable of emergency and security policies.
- Aggressively seek opportunities to sell rooms, including re-rents and last rooms available.
- Have complete knowledge of hotel rooms, function space, restaurant, other outlets, and services.
- Increase revenues by offering upgraded rooms and promoting hotel amenities and outlets.
- Have a full understanding of the franchise honors program.
- Ensure all customers establish credit upon check-in and verify all reservation/check-in information.
- Complete shift closing accurately with appropriate approvals and authorization codes.
- Stay current by reviewing the communication log book each shift and updating it for the next shift.
- Report potential sales contacts to the sales department.
What We're Looking For
- High School diploma / Secondary qualification or equivalent.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Must be able to read and write to facilitate communication.
- Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must possess basic computational ability.
- Must possess basic computer skills.
- Extensive knowledge of the hotel, its services, and facilities.
- General knowledge of the city where hotel is located and its attractions.
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments on a timely basis.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity.
- Ability to spend extended lengths of time viewing a computer screen.
- Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
- Must have finger dexterity to operate office equipment.
- Being passionate about people and service.
- Strong communication skills are essential.
- Reading and writing abilities are used often.
- Basic math skills are used frequently when handling cash or credit.
- Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, and training abilities are often used.
- Have the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham or Hyatt processes and standards.
