Wightman is seeking an experienced Fractional Controller to join our team on a 15-month contract. This part-time role requires 20-30 hours per week and is primarily remote with occasional in-office requirements. You will be an individual contributor focused on operational excellence, reporting directly to the CFO.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Perform journal entries, account reconciliations, and statutory reporting.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls to ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
- Support the development of annual operating and capital budgets.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify cost savings and revenue opportunities.
- Provide guidance on accounting practices, financial systems, and reporting standards.
- Coordinate year-end audit processes and preparation of audited financial statements.
- Deliver ad hoc financial reports and insights as needed.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate financial operations.
What We're Looking For
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business, or equivalent experience.
- Extensive experience in accounting and financial management.
- Strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, and audit preparation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems.
- Knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Nice to Have
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
- ERP experience is an asset.
- Previous experience in telecom or regulated industries is an asset.
