Lead the development and execution of advanced FPV drone training programs for military personnel at the Silver Strand Training Complex in San Diego. This role supports operational units by delivering structured curriculum, maintaining flight proficiency, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards in a tactical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, update, and instruct comprehensive FPV flight training aligned with mission requirements
- Conduct and document weekly currency flights to maintain instructor and student readiness
- Coordinate access to training facilities, airspace, and ranges in support of scheduled events
- Provide technical support including repair, troubleshooting, and system integration for UAS platforms
- Support procurement planning by evaluating emerging FPV and sUAS hardware and software
- Establish performance benchmarks for live and simulated flight operations, including ordnance-integrated scenarios
- Integrate current UAS components and communication systems into training and operations
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tactical UAS applications and counter-UAS tactics, techniques, and procedures
- Ensure accurate flight logging and submit monthly reports to the Contracting Officer’s Representative
Qualifications
- Active Secret Security Clearance required
- U.S. citizenship and valid U.S. passport for the duration of the period of performance
- FAA Part 107 certification
- Minimum of three years of hands-on experience flying, repairing, and operating FPV drones in combat or contested environments
- Proven background with Betaflight and FPV simulation platforms
- Experience developing and delivering flight training curricula for military or tactical applications
- Technical skills in soldering, wiring, and electrical system integration
- Familiarity with integrating payloads and communication systems into UAS platforms
- Experience working within DoD teams and evaluating emerging UAS technologies
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to obtain a DoD CAC
- Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screening
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Must be physically capable of operating in austere environments including desert, maritime, and jungle conditions
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform non-sedentary tasks such as climbing, standing, bending, and stooping
- Adequate vision and hearing to perform flight operations and instruction
- No medical conditions that would restrict deployment or regular field participation
- Must maintain a UAS flight physical and provide medical readiness documentation
- Position requires 10% travel
