As a College Admissions Coach, you’ll work one-on-one with high school students and their families, offering personalized strategies for navigating complex college application processes both in the United States and internationally.
What You’ll Do
- Develop customized college lists that align with each student’s goals, strengths, and interests.
- Advise on course selection, extracurricular engagement, and summer opportunities to build strong academic profiles.
- Support students through every stage of the application journey, from planning timelines to refining personal statements and supplemental essays.
- Conduct mock interviews and provide feedback to build confidence and communication skills.
- Stay informed about evolving admissions policies, institutional priorities, and best practices across a range of institutions.
- Collaborate with internal specialists to ensure a cohesive and supportive experience for each student.
What We’re Looking For
- A bachelor’s degree or higher from a U.S. institution, ideally in fields such as English, writing, public policy, or the humanities.
- Direct experience in college counseling, university admissions, or academic advising.
- Deep familiarity with U.S. college admissions; international experience is a plus.
- Excellent writing and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect meaningfully with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organizational abilities and comfort managing multiple student timelines and deadlines.
Preferred Background
- Advanced degree or training in education, counseling, or a related field.
- Experience tutoring or mentoring high school or college-level students, particularly in writing.
- Editing experience, especially in contexts requiring precision and adherence to standards.
- Background in remote instruction using digital platforms such as Google Hangouts, Google Drive, and Google Classroom.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and maintain high-quality support across a caseload of students.
