Vanguard is hiring a Fixed Income Trader (Municipal Bonds) to join our Fixed Income Group. This role is designed for a trading professional with municipal bond expertise and a quantitative and technology-driven approach. You will be instrumental in advancing our trading strategy, improving execution quality, and supporting investment decisions to achieve desired fund outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Execute municipal bond and money market trades for our municipal index and money market funds with a consistent focus on best execution, liquidity, and risk-aware decision-making.
- Partner closely with portfolio managers, analysts, and traders to develop, propose, and execute investment decisions that manage portfolio risk positioning.
- Enhance and evolve systematic and electronic trading strategies, execution models, and workflows to improve efficiency and performance.
- Collaborate with quantitative researchers and developers to advance trading tools and analytics.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with security dealers, leveraging those relationships to improve trading strategies and execution.
What We're Looking For
- An undergraduate degree is required.
- 2+ years of experience in municipal bond or fixed income trading and/or systematic or quantitative trading strategies.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- A demonstrated interest in systematic trading, electronic execution, and market structure.
Nice to Have
- Preference for an undergraduate degree in finance, engineering, or other quantitative disciplines.
- Previous computer programming experience or familiarity with programming languages (e.g., Python).
Team & Environment
You will collaborate closely with portfolio managers, analysts, traders, quantitative researchers, and developers to drive results.
