Carl Zeiss is hiring a Field Support Engineer II to install, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on specified ZEISS Meditec instrumentation. You'll represent the company within a designated service territory, working directly with customers to achieve high satisfaction and manage company-issued property.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose and repair all designated products within an assigned service territory, including performing preventative maintenance, installations, and upgrades.
- Schedule, create, verify, and/or modify customer visits by assessing needs, including financial impact and patient well-being.
- Complete and submit daily field service reports and weekly expense reports.
- Maintain spare parts inventory according to company guidelines and return specific spare parts as designated.
- Support revenue growth through the promotion and retention of service agreements.
- Interface with customers in a professional, pleasant, and calm demeanor, and instruct them on equipment operation and maintenance.
- Maintain company-issued test equipment, support tools, and spare parts.
- Install and maintain equipment at trade shows as requested.
What We're Looking For
- A minimum of three (3) years of related experience in Electronics, Fine Mechanics, Optics, or Medical Field Service.
- Ability to think through difficult customer issues and generate satisfactory results.
- Must be self-directed and able to work independently with limited management oversight.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills and the ability to pass required training to service fine mechanics and optics.
- Multiple project and time management skills.
- Extensive overnight travel is required by automobile and air.
- Ability to travel in the US and internationally for training, meetings, exhibit support, and coverage outside assigned territory.
- Ability to obtain sufficient credit to cover incurred business expenses.
- Position requires an average of four (4) hours driving per day for service calls.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- On occasion, must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Thirty percent of the average workday is spent standing or walking.
Nice to Have
- BS in Electronics, Engineering, Computer Technology, or related fields.
- A+ and Net+ certification.
