Motorola Solutions is hiring a Field Engineer to join our mission to help keep people safer everywhere. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and support of advanced communication systems for our Government and Public Safety customers. This role requires extensive travel (>75%) and a strong blend of RF communications and computer/networking expertise.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, and Sales teams to design, implement, test, optimize, cutover, and document communication systems.
- Perform remote and onsite configuration of network, server, RF, and database components using design tools and formalized processes.
- Oversee the onsite installation of network, server, and RF equipment using system design drawings and product documentation.
- Perform onsite and remote troubleshooting of networks, servers, databases, and RF infrastructure using system logs and tools.
- Execute product and system test plans for acceptance testing, correct any deficiencies, and provide accepted test results.
- Perform performance verification and optimization of digital and analog RF infrastructure based on FCC license data and design parameters.
- Design and develop solutions for complex technical issues encountered during system implementation, upgrades, or support.
- Provide weekly reports detailing activities and accomplishments.
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of experience in one of the following: LMR, RF Systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, Military, Motorola equipment, IT Systems, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Engineering or Networking equipment.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contracts.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Willingness to travel extensively (>75%).
- Excellent communication skills and professional presentation.
- Ability to operate calmly and effectively to resolve customer issues in stressful situations.
Nice to Have
- Industry network certification (or pursuit thereof) is desirable (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Security+, Juniper JNCIA, Cisco CCNA, Nokia NRS1).

- RF Power Sensor, Ethernet test sets (Anritsu 9090A, VeeX MTX150, T-BERD 5800)
- T1 test sets, TIMS (Transmission Impairment Measurement Set)
- Motorola subscribers (APX, APX Next) and CPS programming software
- MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and Google G-Suite applications
