Gérard Bertrand is hiring a Field Commercial Manager to be the driving force for business growth and brand presence across Western Canada. In this pivotal role, you will be the key market-facing representative, ensuring commercial objectives and brand standards are met through strategic execution in both on-premise and retail channels.
What You'll Do
- Act as a key brand representative for Gérard Bertrand in Western Canada.
- Open new business opportunities and develop new distribution points across on-premise and retail channels.
- Work alongside sales team during key account meetings, regional/national chain visits, and structured sales calls.
- Participate in structured route planning for consistent market coverage across major metropolitan and resort territories.
- Support sales team in achieving annual KPIs, including distribution objectives and placements.
- Manage execution of commercial programs and promotional agreements in keeping with local regulations.
- Support promotional execution and brand visibility activations.
- Ensure consistent brand presentation and messaging across all brand activations.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with key accounts, sales teams, distributors, educators, media, influencers, and consumers.
- Travel to the estate of Gerard Bertrand with sales teams, key accounts, and VIP customers as required.
- Deliver wine education and training programs to sales teams, on-premise/retail staff, account partners, and media.
- Host and lead masterclasses, wine dinners, educational tastings, and participate in regional wine festivals.
- Execute national account training programs within the territory.
- Create, manage, and track event and travel pre-approved budgets.
- Manage travel logistics and scheduling across Western Canada.
- Manage and reconcile expenses for reimbursement.
- Execute and track sampling programs in compliance with provincial liquor board regulations.
- Complete and report competitive analysis including market share, promotions, social media, and pricing.
- Provide regular reporting on activity, sales performance, shipments, depletions, and promotional effectiveness.
- Track marketing investments, on-premise performance, chain activity, and key account initiatives.
- Maintain customer and consumer databases for events, invitations, and product launches.
- Participate in sales meetings, brand planning sessions, and annual sales summits.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams and other Gérard Bertrand agencies in Canada.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Hospitality or equivalent experience.
- 3–5+ years in wine, beverage alcohol, hospitality or CPG.
- WSET Level 3 minimum.
- Fluent English.
- Confident presenter, experienced in tastings and trainings.
- Highly organized, autonomous, relationship-driven.
- Strong closing and influencing skills.
- Comfortable with evening/weekend events.
- Physically able to lift 23kg / 50lbs and stand for long periods.
- Valid driver’s license & Canadian passport.
- Provincial liquor certifications (Pro Serve, Serving It Right).
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, social media.
Nice to Have
- French language skills strongly recommended.
- Knowledge of liquor board systems: BCLDB, Container World, SLGA, MBLL, AGLC.
- Familiarity with EZ Focus data platform.
- Ideally located in Calgary or Vancouver.
