About the Role
The position involves conducting field surveys for wildlife and vegetation, collecting environmental data, and supporting environmental assessments in compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform field surveys for plant and animal species
- Document ecological conditions using standardized methods
- Collect soil, water, and biological samples following protocols
- Record field observations accurately in digital and paper formats
- Identify native and invasive plant species in the field
- Support wetland delineation efforts
- Assist with wildlife habitat assessments
- Operate GPS and mapping equipment for site documentation
- Follow safety procedures during field operations
- Transport field equipment to remote locations
- Communicate findings to project leads
- Adapt to variable weather and terrain conditions
- Work in compliance with environmental regulations
- Maintain detailed field notes and data logs
- Assist in preparing technical reports
Nice to Have
- Experience with rare or protected species surveys
- Training in wetland delineation
- First Aid or Wilderness First Aid certification
- Use of field measurement instruments
- Prior work in regulatory compliance projects
