Field Application Specialist – Separation Technology (Remote)
Role Overview
This position supports customers in the biopharmaceutical, biotech, pharmaceutical, and academic sectors by delivering technical expertise in filtration and purification solutions. As a key technical contact, you will collaborate with clients and internal teams across Sub Saharan Africa, providing application support, training, and troubleshooting. The role is remote-based with significant field engagement, requiring up to 70% travel to customer sites and partner locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver technical guidance and application support for separation technology products, working closely with product management and sales teams
- Design and lead technical demonstrations, on-site trials, webinars, and hands-on training sessions for customers and partners
- Present data, process insights, and recommendations to scientific and operational stakeholders
- Identify customer needs through proactive engagement and support the development of tailored solutions
- Collaborate with marketing on product launches, campaigns, and market feedback collection
- Share customer and competitive insights internally to inform product development and strategy
- Manage your schedule independently, balancing travel, remote work, and customer commitments
Qualifications and Skills
A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related life science field is required. You should have a solid grasp of biopharmaceutical workflows, including process optimization and technical troubleshooting. Strong analytical thinking and the ability to explain complex data clearly are essential.
Previous experience with filtration or purification systems in a biotech or pharma setting is preferred. Background in customer-facing technical roles, application science, or training delivery is an advantage. You must be self-organized, capable of independent work, and comfortable engaging with diverse teams across international regions.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role with remote flexibility and regular travel across Sub Saharan Africa, including key hubs such as Cape Town and Gauteng. You will set your own schedule while aligning with regional customer demands. The position requires a valid work authorization in South Africa.
