About the Role
The extern will assist attorneys with legal research, drafting documents, and case preparation in support of environmental protection and public health initiatives. The position offers practical experience in public interest law within a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research on environmental regulations and case law
- Draft memoranda analyzing legal issues and policy implications
- Assist in preparing briefs and other court filings
- Support attorneys in developing litigation strategies
- Attend and summarize proceedings or meetings when appropriate
- Review and analyze administrative agency actions
- Help organize case files and legal documentation
- Participate in team discussions on ongoing legal matters
- Contribute to the development of legal arguments in environmental cases
- Gain exposure to federal and state environmental statutes
- Work on projects related to public lands and natural resource protection
- Support efforts to enforce clean air and clean water laws
- Engage with clients and partner organizations as directed
- Develop legal writing skills under attorney supervision
- Explore the intersection of environmental justice and legal advocacy
