Black & Veatch, an employee-owned engineering leader, is looking for a Facility Electrical Assessment Consultant. In this mid-level role, you will be responsible for developing and performing electrical assessments of facility assets like water, wastewater, substations, and power plants. You'll apply asset management best practices to evaluate equipment and provide technical support to help clients optimize their operations.
What You'll Do
- Develop onsite inspection plans to assess electrical equipment such as transformers, MCCs, generators, and rotating mechanical equipment.
- Perform deenergized tests like vibration analysis and thermography.
- Provide technical support and oversight for third-party contractors performing energized assessment work.
- Review and evaluate electrical test results and prepare technical reports clearly articulating repair, replacement, and maintenance recommendations.
- Safely plan and manage field-based asset inspection and performance evaluations of water, wastewater, power, and other utility facilities.
- Manage the structuring, storage, and utilization of diverse data and asset information.
- Perform analysis of reliability, functionality, maintainability, and condition, and clearly communicate observations in professional quality reports.
- Assist with the execution of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) programs for client organizations and support maintenance plan development.
- Develop reports, presentations, and Technical Memorandums.
- Work directly with clients and support project teams in meetings and workshops.
- Support the Solution Team to prepare proposals and scopes of work.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s Degree or relevant work experience.
- 4+ years of experience in a business or consulting environment.
- All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected), which may include any combination of a criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with applicable laws.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- 5 - 7 years of electrical design or testing experience, with knowledge of FERC, IEEE, and NEC standards.
- Knowledge of electrical assessment in areas such as: planning and management of field inspections, selection and deployment of inspection technologies, interpretation of field data, and rehabilitation/replacement recommendations.
- Strong theoretical knowledge of electrical principles and the ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.

You will be part of the Delivery Team, supporting solutions including Condition Assessment, Maintenance Management, and Strategic Asset Management.
