Responsibilities
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in site-level environmental initiatives
- Formulate the annual environmental plan in alignment with long-term sustainable mining objectives
- Set yearly environmental goals that support compliance with regulatory bodies and multi-year rehabilitation strategies
- Oversee coordination of environmental compliance and cultural heritage protection activities
- Supervise and develop a team of environmental specialists
- Engage with internal and external parties to promote environmental awareness within financial limits
- Ensure adherence to legal and licensing requirements for environmental operations
- Take primary responsibility for designing and enhancing the Environmental Management System
- Support the creation and oversight of the environmental operations budget
- Lead investigations into environmental incidents and ensure effective corrective measures are implemented
- Foster and maintain productive relations with the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation
