Die Autobahn GmbH des Bundes is offering an entry-level position for career changers (Quereinsteiger) in road maintenance. This role provides hands-on work on motorway infrastructure and includes a structured 24-month qualification program to become a certified road maintenance worker (Straßenwärter). Initial employment is for a fixed term of 24 months, with permanent employment offered upon successful completion of the program.
What You'll Do
- Assist in performing road maintenance and repair work.
- Assist in maintaining, caring for, and cleaning the roadbed and ancillary facilities.
- Participate in securing and monitoring work and accident sites.
- Operate, drive, and maintain small vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
- Perform green space and shrubbery maintenance.
- Participate in winter service operations.
What We're Looking For
- Successfully completed vocational training, preferably in construction, agriculture, forestry, or horticulture.
- Willingness to undergo qualification measures in road maintenance services.
- Driver's license class B and C/CE, or willingness to acquire the C/CE license at the employer's expense.
- Willingness to drive service vehicles.
- Physical resilience and health suitability for year-round physical work outdoors.
- Willingness to work shifts and be on call during winter and summer service.

Compensation starts at pay group E4 according to the MTV-Autobahn collective agreement. Individual pay grade is determined based on its provisions.
