PG&E is seeking a Principal Enterprise Architect to join our centralized Enterprise Strategy & Architecture (ES&A) group. In this role, you will be responsible for translating our architectural vision into actionable plans, developing business understanding, and enabling execution teams to support PG&E’s mandate of Reuse, Rationalize, Optimize, and Standardize.
What You'll Do
- Partner with senior business and IT leadership to develop technology roadmaps for Integrated Planning, Project & Portfolio Management (PPM) domains.
- Lead end-to-end strategy across Integrated Planning, PPM, Engineering & Estimating, and Work Management.
- Collaborate with business partners to enable future goals by leveraging appropriate technologies for these portfolios.
- Assess the current IT application environment for asset and risk domains and develop future IT target architectures.
- Lead vendor assessments, support RFPs, and application rationalization efforts.
- Support IT strategic planning and portfolio modernization processes.
- Coordinate roadmaps across enterprise groups to manage conflicts, redundancies, and interdependencies.
- Collaborate with domain enterprise architects to ensure strategies, standards, design patterns, and roadmaps are consistent and integrated.
- Support project delivery and provide an enterprise architecture view to inform solution designs.
- Stay updated with developments in AI, edge computing, and other emerging industry segments.
- Be a self-starter, solving complex issues with cross-functional teams in a fast-moving, agile environment.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience partnering with senior leadership to develop technology strategies and roadmaps.
- Strong background in business architecture modeling and application portfolio management.
- Expertise in assessing IT environments, developing target architectures, and leading modernization initiatives.
- Experience leading vendor assessments, RFPs, and application rationalization.
- Ability to coordinate across enterprise groups and integrate architectural standards.
- Track record of supporting project delivery and providing enterprise-level solution design guidance.
- A proactive approach to staying current with industry trends like AI and edge computing.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems in cross-functional, agile teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with or in the utility industry is highly desirable.
Team & Environment
This role reports to the Lead Enterprise Architect within the centralized Enterprise Strategy & Architecture (ES&A) group.
Benefits & Compensation
- Eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
- Compensation range: $155,000 - $210,000 (Bay Area Min: $155,000, Bay Area Max: $265,000).
Work Mode
This is a hybrid position based in Oakland, CA.
