Ford is hiring an Engineering Specialist - Controls

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate resources to find root cause and fixes, manage and breakdown problems into items that can be validated. Determine proper validation methods.
  • Handle setup and maintenance of industrial bar code printers
  • Utilize sound knowledge design and implement vision control systems. Familiar with different type of vision cameras and their programing software. Continuously evaluate equipment for improvement for quality and delivery
  • Use FIS plant monitoring software to review cycle times of equipment, review and follow up project installations
  • Reprogram equipment for engineering changes and improvements
  • Update program backups for machinery and automation
  • Program new installations of automation, machinery, material handling, and robots
  • As part of a team, review risk assessments and evaluate equipment safety
  • Assist in training manufacturing personnel and plant electricians
  • Read and modify electrical prints and schematics, Auto CAD
  • Maintain familiarity with OA, CPN/MPN networks and communication protocols for connecting to wireless and wired networks
  • Manage installation and maintenance of virus protection software for controls network PCs, perform PC backup disc images and installation of communication and firmware and controls software
  • Work overtime and weekends as needed

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 4 or more years of Controls Engineering experience (internship and coop experience will be considered)

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, or Automation Engineering
  • Automotive experience is highly preferred
  • Electrical background (electrician or technician) preferred
  • Familiar with PLC/CNC (Allen-Bradley), VFD, Servo, Profinet, FANUC Robots
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, modify electrical schematics, and use AutoCAD
  • Validated ability to troubleshoot equipment and continuously evaluate for process improvements
  • Experience with conveyor system programming
  • Solid understanding of networking to include DH+, Ethernet, and remote IO
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience
  • Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka-Yoke, Value Stream Mapping experience
  • Understanding of 8D, FMEA, and DMAIC processes
  • Familiar with TQM and Kaizen methods
  • One or more years of experience with MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook)
  • Knowledge of simulation modeling and visual factory management is preferred
