Qualified is hiring an Engineering Operations Lead to be a pivotal force in optimizing our engineering organization. In this role, you will be the central driver for proactive management of our engineering landscape, operational excellence, and process refinement. You will partner closely with engineering leadership and Product Ops to take ownership of key operational domains.
What You'll Do
- Champion the planning, prioritization, and execution of critical foundational engineering roadmaps, including security, compliance, customer commitments, and tooling improvements.
- Define key metrics, monitor engineering team performance and product/platform health, and use data-driven insights to inform strategic decisions and continuous improvement.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve developer tooling, reduce operational costs across engineering teams, and optimize infrastructure spend.
- Oversee the full lifecycle of engineering-related vendor relationships, including procurement, account ownership, feature adoption, and budget management.
- Proactively identify, prioritize, and de-risk technical debt, operational inefficiencies, and security vulnerabilities, championing upgrades and serving as the security liaison.
- Partner closely with engineering leadership and Product Ops on the continuous refinement of engineering processes and workflows as well as planning to ensure the right work gets done at the right time by the right people.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of 6+ years of experience in Engineering Operations, Technical Program Management, Engineering, Product Management or similar roles focused on improving the engineering landscape.
- Demonstrated success in an Engineering Operations, Program Management, or similar role focused on improving engineering efficiency, processes, and foundational systems.
- Ability to understand complex technical landscapes and identify interconnected problems, leading to holistic and scalable solutions.
- A strong passion for identifying inefficiencies and implementing practical, impactful improvements.
- Experience defining metrics, analyzing data, and using insights to drive decision-making and measure success.
- Sufficient technical understanding to effectively communicate with engineers, understand technical challenges, and champion foundational engineering initiatives.
- Strong ability to articulate complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences, influence stakeholders, and drive alignment across cross-functional teams.
- Ability to identify problems independently, propose solutions, and drive initiatives from conception to completion with minimal oversight.
- Excellent ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and stakeholders effectively.
