Constructor is hiring an Engineering Manager to be the technical lead defining the developer experience for our Customer Dashboard platform used by major retailers. You will lead a small team, splitting your time between hands-on technical work, team leadership, and collaboration across multiple engineering groups.
What You'll Do
- Own dashboard reliability including infrastructure, monitoring, alerting, incident response, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Own developer experience including tooling, development environment, design system, and agentic coding infrastructure.
- Own platform capabilities including authorization, audit logging, and configuration management.
- Lead a small team.
- Work across 7 teams to influence without authority.
What We're Looking For
- Platform engineering experience building internal tools, developer platforms, or infrastructure for other engineers.
- Full-stack technical depth with strong hands-on experience in React & TypeScript and Node.js backend.
- Infrastructure and operations experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, alerting, and handling production incidents.
- Leadership experience leading projects, mentoring engineers, or managing a small team.
- Systems thinking to understand tradeoffs and how decisions affect multiple teams.
- Strong communication skills for working across multiple teams.
- Comfort with ambiguity to take vague problems and structure an approach.
Nice to Have
- Formal management experience.
- Experience with design systems or component libraries.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools or agentic coding.
- Experience in e-commerce or B2B SaaS.
- Experience working remotely in a distributed team.
