ESA is seeking a driven Restoration Design Engineer with 0-3 years of experience to collaborate with our team of hydrologists, geomorphologists, ecologists, landscape architects, and engineers in Northern California. This role will support diverse multi-objective wetland and coastal restoration design projects in the San Francisco Bay Area, Central Valley, and throughout California. We desire a dedicated and enthusiastic team member passionate about ecosystem restoration and eager to learn and grow. This is a full-time salary exempt position with hybrid work expectations. Candidates must be willing to work in-office as needed for team collaboration and be able to work hybrid in San Francisco, Oakland, Sacramento, or Petaluma offices. Candidate Profile: - Recent graduate with education in civil engineering design, analysis, hydraulic and hydrologic methods for natural systems restoration - Bachelor's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering; EIT certification preferred - 2 years applicable work experience and/or Master's degree preferred - Experience/interest in design software like AutoCAD, ArcGIS, HEC RAS, Python - Educational background in wetland/marine ecology, geomorphology, hydrology - Strong team player with excellent communication skills - Ability to work independently and collaboratively Responsibilities: - Support ecosystem restoration, climate resilience, habitat enhancement projects - Prepare engineering analyses, design plans, cost estimates, reports - Apply hydrologic and hydraulic modeling techniques - Evaluate design alternatives using GIS and software platforms - Collect field data supporting engineering analysis - Contribute to environmental reports and client meetings - Demonstrate problem-solving capabilities in fast-paced environments Our Environmental Hydrology & Design Team emphasizes creative thinking, teamwork, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
