Responsibilities
- Engage in safety audits, inspections, and observations to promote a culture of safety and resolve identified issues.
- Serve as the primary technical authority and strategic advisor on electrical installation and maintenance best practices.
- Support supervisors and skilled workers in implementing electrical strategies during scheduled plant shutdowns.
- Observe and verify site acceptance testing and quality assurance processes for new electrical installations and projects.
- Contribute to the creation and refinement of standards, procedures, and operational workflows.
- Apply technical knowledge to evaluate and improve maintenance system quality.
- Lead and guide the electrical maintenance team with clear direction and oversight.
- Ensure adherence to maintenance protocols for electrical systems—including power, lighting, and controls—to meet performance and KPI goals.
- Support the evaluation of preventive maintenance programs to reduce equipment downtime.
- Work with cross-functional teams to align electrical systems with broader mining operations.
- Participate in factory acceptance testing for electrical equipment and minor projects, ensuring compliance with QA/QC plans and site-specific requirements.
- Enforce compliance with applicable electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Monitor regulatory updates and revise internal procedures to maintain compliance.
- Coordinate with relevant units to respond quickly to electrical emergencies.
- Partner with procurement to acquire electrical components and test equipment meeting required specifications.
- Assess and choose suppliers based on quality, cost-effectiveness, and dependability.
- Identify and recommend training programs to enhance electrical team capabilities.
- Maintain awareness of technological advancements to keep team skills up to date.
- Review and approve competency evaluations and authorizations for electricians, including high-voltage switching certifications.
- Produce reports on equipment status, process compliance, and audit findings.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
- Identify and implement improvements in electrical maintenance methods and systems.
- Execute efficiency-enhancing measures to lower operational expenses.
- Develop and sustain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to support section objectives.
- Provide expert technical consultation to operations and project teams as needed.
