The EHS and Facilities Engineer at Becton Dickinson (BD) is responsible for developing policies and procedures to ensure employee health services align with corporate goals, serving as the site's Radiation Safety Officer (RSO), and managing the maintenance, installation, repair, and operation of critical utilities and systems related to sterilization equipment and support systems such as HVAC, compressed air, hot water, chilled water, and vacuum.
What You'll Do
- Coordinate/Supervise all safety and environmental programs, including chemical hygiene/laboratory safety, biological safety, material handling, and ergonomics.
- Conduct investigations into accidents and work-related injuries or illnesses.
- Utilizing data provided from the OSHA 300 Logs, workers’ compensation trends (both locally and BD wide), and industry best practices, identify trends and establish new and creative ways to reduce injuries across the organization.
- Manage ergonomics program.
- Act as primary liaison to associates and others receiving or requesting ergonomic evaluations.
- Develop new and improved techniques in ergonomics to address the trends of injuries/complaints expressed by Associates.
- Provide training and guidance on all EHS training programs.
- Training programs will include but not limited to radiation, hazardous communication and bio-hazardous waste.
- At this level you will be expected to create and deliver effective training and lesson plans.
- Maintain excellent working knowledge of local, state and federal regulations that apply to our operations including but not limited to Federal OSHA, EPA and local applicable codes.
- Conduct periodic safety inspections and ensures corrective action for identified hazards.
- Participates as a standing member of the Safety Committee.
- Oversee the routine Preventative Maintenance on equipment, and facilities HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems.
- Manages outside contractors during specialized projects and during routine services regarding sterilization equipment and support systems.
- Project Manager for new equipment installation, equipment upgrades, building upgrades and improvements.
- Assess spare part inventories to ensure adequate supply on-hand.
- Comply with all local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.

What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or related degree.
- 5 years of facilities experience, preferably with automated equipment.
- Demonstrated experience in equipment operation, and maintenance.
- Experience with applicable GMP, ISO regulations, and knowledge of federal and state environmental and occupational safety and health regulations (EPA, OSHA, NFPA).
- Understand the root cause of technical issues, develop a plan, and implement.
- Read and understand drawings, electrical diagrams, chronic levels of quality, waste, and equipment efficiencies.
- Effective influencing, communication and presentation skills, and the ability to exercise sound judgment under pressure.

Nice to Have
- Experience with electron beam accelerators a plus.
- PE, PMP it’s a plus.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or equivalent.

Work Mode
Work location: USA AZ - Tucson - Valencia Road. For most roles, a minimum of 4 days of in-office presence per week is required to maintain culture of excellence and ensure smooth operations, while also recognizing the importance of flexibility and work-life balance. Remote or field-based positions will have different arrangements indicated in the job posting.
