Hearst Magazines is looking for an Editor to lead the editorial vision and strategic direction for the Midland Reporter Telegram across digital and print platforms. You will oversee daily newsroom operations, guide a team of journalists, and serve as a visible community leader.
What You'll Do
- Drive the editorial vision and strategic direction for both digital and print platforms.
- Lead a team of journalists to produce high-quality, engaging, and impactful content.
- Shape digital-first workflows while maintaining strong print standards.
- Collaborate with audience, product, and marketing teams to optimize reach and engagement.
- Use audience data and analytics to inform coverage and elevate reader experiences.
- Assign stories, guide editorial planning, and ensure journalistic excellence.
- Edit and approve copy with an eye for accuracy, clarity, grammar, and tone.
- Oversee daily operations including layout, production, deadlines, and budget.
- Represent the Midland Reporter Telegram as a visible community and industry leader.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive newsroom experience, including newsroom leadership.
- Proven ability to lead teams, coach talent, and deliver results under deadline.
- Strong grasp of digital platforms, content management systems, and data tools.
- Mastery of AP Style, grammar, and editorial best practices.
- Excellent judgment and editorial instincts, with the ability to balance breaking news, enterprise, and audience interests.
- A collaborative spirit and the ability to work across departments.
- Skilled in time management, page layout, and multi-platform storytelling.
