International Rescue Committee (IRC) is hiring an Economic Recovery and Development Coordinator

About the Role

The coordinator leads economic recovery initiatives in post-crisis environments by managing programs that enhance income generation, build market systems, and support vulnerable populations in rebuilding their livelihoods.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of economic development projects in emergency and transitional settings
  • Conduct assessments to identify community economic needs and opportunities
  • Develop strategies to strengthen local market systems and value chains
  • Collaborate with local governments and partner organizations to align recovery efforts
  • Manage project budgets and ensure financial accountability
  • Monitor program performance using defined indicators and evaluation frameworks
  • Support capacity building for local stakeholders and implementing partners
  • Coordinate with cross-sectoral teams to integrate economic recovery into broader response programs
  • Facilitate training sessions for beneficiaries on income-generating activities
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements and reporting standards
  • Engage with private sector actors to promote investment in recovery zones
  • Design and implement monitoring tools to track economic outcomes
  • Supervise program staff and provide technical guidance
  • Promote gender inclusion in economic programming
  • Address barriers to economic participation for marginalized groups
  • Support the development of business development services for entrepreneurs
  • Contribute to grant proposals and concept notes for funding opportunities
  • Analyze economic trends affecting recovery efforts in target regions
  • Ensure programs adhere to humanitarian principles and safeguarding standards
  • Document lessons learned and best practices for internal knowledge sharing

Compensation

Competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with experience

Work Arrangement

Full-time, on-site position with potential for field travel

Part of the economic development unit within a humanitarian response team
