CDL Schools LLC is hiring a Driving Instructor to support our driver training instructional programs. You will be responsible for delivering professional instruction, ensuring student safety, and maintaining program standards.
What You'll Do
- Maintain accurate student attendance and progress records.
- Keep the classroom in a neat and orderly manner.
- Assure the utilization of effective teaching concepts.
- Coordinate and plan for daily instruction, ensuring proper use of equipment and student time.
- Present instruction in a professional, timely, and accurate manner consistent with school standards.
- Instruct, supervise, and monitor student actions in all training phases, ensuring compliance with program policy.
- Ensure instructional materials are appropriate and relay recommendations for change to your supervisor.
- Evaluate students daily and conduct formal evaluations using appropriate academic and skills tests.
- Document any student problems and maintain records in the student file.
- Serve as a role model to students regarding dress, conduct, and attitude.
- Participate in professional organizations, staff meetings, in-service education, and selected professional growth activities.
- Maintain all certifications as required by the Director.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Director or Chief Program Instructor.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Current CDL A license (must have held CDL A for 2+ years).
- Minimum 6 months verifiable driving experience (or as required by state; military experience considered).
- Proficient in driving over-the-road, diesel-powered commercial vehicles (straight-line backing, offset parking, alley-docking, parallel parking).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend varied and extensive written documents, regulations, and reference materials.
- Ability to prioritize workload.
- Ability to utilize computers/tablets in daily operations.
- Ability to teach CDL students to pass vehicle inspection, BSL testing, and over-the-road driving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge and skill to conduct after-action reviews of training.
- Ability to identify and report vehicle maintenance deficiencies.
- Ability to conduct minor maintenance repairs.
- Must meet all FMCSR Part 391 (Qualifications of Drivers) and Part 382 (Controlled substances and Alcohol Use & Testing) standards.
- Ability to routinely enter and exit a vehicle requiring steps.
- Ability to lift, handle, and carry articles weighing 30 pounds.
- Must be willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Team & Environment
You will report directly to the Training Manager.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position.
