Source Bioscience is hiring a DNA Scientist I to deliver services from our portfolio to customers, working either independently or as part of shared projects. You will be responsible for performing laboratory tasks, analyzing data, and maintaining meticulous records while adhering to quality standards and KPIs.
What You'll Do
- Extract DNA and process DNA samples for sequencing.
- Perform data analysis and participate in other research projects.
- Cover within other departments within the facility when required.
- Perform laboratory tasks in support of project progression, working independently or with team members while adhering to SOPs.
- Observe and report problems encountered with hardware failure or sample-related issues.
- Balance different demands and priorities from group members and customers, working to deadlines.
- Reply to routine enquiries from customers via telephone and email, and provide technical support to the commercial department.
- Undertake general laboratory maintenance and routine tasks, including preparation of buffers and reagents and lab tidying.
- Maintain quality standards and comply with all quality control procedures.
- Comply with safe working practices.
- Perform any other duties as may be reasonably required commensurate with grade and experience.
- Attend training as appropriate to the role or as requested by the Line Manager.
What We're Looking For
- A degree or equivalent experience.
- Some laboratory experience in molecular biology techniques.
- An eye for detail and a meticulous nature with a high degree of accuracy.
- Understanding of the principles of confidentiality and data protection, and the ability to respect confidentiality.
- Good interpersonal and excellent communication skills to communicate with colleagues, management, and customers professionally.
- Meticulous record keeping.
- A conscientious and reliable approach to work.
- Self-motivation with a proven good attendance record.
- Professional dress and manner as per Company Policy.
Nice to Have
- Experience with DNA sequencing, genotyping/gene expression, and robotics.
- Experience of working in a service-orientated industry.
