This postdoctoral fellowship offers an opportunity to advance empirical research on leadership and character within higher education. Working closely with senior researchers, the fellow will design and carry out mixed-methods studies that explore how character is developed and assessed in university settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement research plans to evaluate leadership and character programs, including course offerings and co-curricular initiatives.
- Apply advanced quantitative techniques such as multilevel modeling, psychometric validation, and nonparametric methods using statistical software like SPSS or R.
- Conduct qualitative analyses including thematic, interpretative phenomenological, and content analysis to deepen understanding of character-related constructs.
- Search and synthesize academic literature to inform study design and theoretical frameworks.
- Lead the preparation and submission of manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals and scholarly publications.
- Communicate findings through reports and presentations for educators, administrators, and external partners.
- Support grant development by contributing to research proposals, managing project components, and coordinating assessment efforts.
- Participate in workshops and conferences to share insights and support broader engagement with character education.
- Assist in strategic planning, program evaluation, and communication initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in education, psychology, or a related social science field, with a demonstrated record of scholarly publication. Experience in designing and managing research studies is essential, along with proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to manage multiple projects independently, and a commitment to ethical research practices. Familiarity with IRB protocols, survey platforms like Qualtrics, and statistical analysis tools is required. Work Environment
This is a two-year appointment with a hybrid work model, allowing remote work with required in-person periods. Onboarding takes place on campus, and fellows are expected to make 2–3 site visits annually.
