Vertiv Group Corporation is hiring a Director, Technical Sales – AC Power to lead our AC Power Technical Sales and Application Engineering activities for North America. In this role, you will manage teams and drive growth initiatives for Vertiv’s 3-phase AC Power products, ensuring coordination across Sales Offices, GSA Account Managers, Channel Sales, Product Management, and Engineering.
What You'll Do
- Manage a team of high-performing AC Power technical sales associates, providing direction for key growth initiatives.
- Lead Technical Sales Engineers in key client engagements for Enterprise, C&I, and flow business, including power architecture concepts, product selection, and design reviews.
- Manage a Technical Sales Engineering team focused on GSA accounts, handling specification reviews, technical guidance, and supporting GSA account managers.
- Mentor and manage the application engineering team to provide responsive technical support to Vertiv’s sales teams across the US, Canada, and select global areas.
- Coordinate with internal teams like engineering, SFA engineering, technical sales, and sales to address barriers in the opportunity-to-order process.
- Focus on achieving growth targets to hit company goals.
- Support budgeting and specification development to maximize success rates.
- Represent Vertiv and participate in key customer factory visits.
- Participate in account planning and engagement strategies for key clients.
- Support technical proposals, design documentation, and project proposals.
- Provide sales staff with technical assistance for documentation and customer-facing presentations.
- Participate in New Product Development efforts.
- Provide industry feedback to product managers for product improvements and roadmaps.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- 10+ years of industry sales experience.
- Technical knowledge of 3-phase AC Power products and their applications.
- Deep market dynamics and industry knowledge.
- Experience working on large, complex RFQs.
- Experience working with Sales Offices and Account Managers.
- Salesmanship and self-confidence to handle frequent, stressful customer relationship issues.
- Strong sales presentation skills.
- A track record of attaining quota in measured categories.
- Experience assisting in problem job or equipment reconciliation.
- The ability to serve as a role model within the company for sales department functions.
