Position OverviewAs Director of Philanthropy, you will lead donor engagement initiatives to advance the mission of a nationally recognized pediatric healthcare provider. Your focus will be on identifying, cultivating, and stewarding individual, corporate, and foundation donors to secure transformative gifts that support patient care, research, and institutional priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and manage a comprehensive fundraising program centered on major and planned giving, annual support, and institutional partnerships.
- Build and sustain strategic relationships with Shriners Temples, community leaders, business councils, and philanthropic organizations to expand outreach and visibility.
- Guide prospects through complex gift vehicles, including bequests, charitable gift annuities, real estate, and stock donations, ensuring donor intent is honored.
- Collaborate with internal teams to implement digital fundraising strategies using platforms such as Classy, enhancing donor engagement and conversion.
- Track and analyze donor data to prioritize outreach, improve retention of mid- to high-level donors, and meet annual revenue targets.
- Support the planning and execution of community events, including walks, anniversary celebrations, and donor presentations, to deepen engagement.
- Maintain accurate records in the central donor database and ensure compliance with gift processing and reporting standards.
- Work alongside leadership to align fundraising goals with institutional strategy, including capital projects and endowment growth.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop support staff to strengthen team capacity and performance.
- Represent the organization to the public, board members, and partner institutions, communicating impact and inspiring continued support.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree and have at least five years of professional fundraising experience, including three years focused on major and planned giving. A demonstrated history of securing six-figure gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations is essential. Familiarity with planned giving structures such as CGAs, bequests, and in-kind donations is required. Experience with Blackbaud CRM is preferred. Advanced degrees are valued but not mandatory.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid position with remote flexibility and a requirement of 25%–30% travel. Occasional evening and weekend work is expected to accommodate donor meetings and events. The role supports a mission-driven culture grounded in compassion, integrity, and excellence in pediatric care.
