Recast is hiring a Director of Engineering to accelerate our engineering and product development practice. You will lead the full engineering organization and own the strategic direction for our software development as we grow.
What You'll Do
- Improve culture of shipping and accountability on the engineering team.
- Drive adoption of AI tools for development and integration of AI-first workflows into the product.
- Hire rapidly to grow the software engineering team while maintaining high quality and culture of excellence.
- Own tech security practice and SOC 2 certification and compliance program.
- Lead intense inter-team collaboration to provision compute, develop algorithms, and present human-usable features.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience leading and scaling engineering teams, including hiring and developing talent.
- Strong background in owning technical security and compliance programs like SOC 2.
- Ability to foster collaboration across diverse, distributed engineering subteams.
- Track record of improving engineering processes and a culture of delivery.
Nice to Have
- Ruby on Rails
- AWS and/or cloud-first architectures
- Kubernetes and distributed compute
- Building products with data science/machine learning/algorithmic components

You will lead a flat engineering organization across 6+ countries, consisting of three subteams: app developers, R developers, and infrastructure/platform engineers.
