Darkroom is hiring a Director, Creative Strategy to serve as a visionary creative leader for our performance ad programs. You will develop high-impact concepts for digital paid media across Meta, TikTok, YouTube, Amazon, and Display, combining creative strategy, data analysis, and hands-on design to deliver advertising that sells products and services.
What You'll Do
- Lead high-tempo creative strategy and direction for full-funnel ad programs on Meta, TikTok, YouTube, Amazon, and Display Platforms.
- Deliver expert advice, concepts, directions, and briefs for selling products and services through short-form video.
- Translate client marketing strategy and performance data into clear, compelling ad concepts using metrics like thumb-stop rate, hold rate, and clickthrough rate.
- Brief Designers and Editors on asset creation including static ads, animations, mobile-first videos, and storyboards; capable of hands-on work in Figma or Adobe Suite.
- Present creative work to stakeholders and clients with clarity, confidence, and strategic rationale.
- Monitor performance data in collaboration with the marketing team to inform creative iterations and improve results over time.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of creative strategy work on performance ad programs, with specific focus on short form video and statics.
- Experience driving creative strategy on Meta.
- A digital portfolio showcasing performance ad work including short-form video, motion, and statics, with examples of impact on metrics like hold rate or CTR.
- Ability to storyboard, cut, and ship ads; jump into Figma to fix hierarchy and pacing; and use Photoshop or Illustrator to polish assets.
- Knowledge of performance metrics: thumb-stop rate, 3-second hold, hook retention, CTR, CPA.
- Experience using AI tools like ChatGPT, Midjourney, Perplexity, Icon, Runway, or similar to increase speed and volume; have shipped ads with AI-assisted elements.
- Excellent communication skills for client presentations and giving crisp, actionable feedback to designers and editors.
- Ability to turn vague goals into testable concepts, track results, and iterate independently.
- Deep proficiency in Figma including Auto Layout, Components, and handoff. Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
