About the Role

Global Payments is hiring a Director, Applications System Development to manage analysis, programming, and testing for system and software application development and support. In this role, you’ll lead a highly technical team and drive software development activities supporting client requests, new sales, strategic initiatives, and internal product enhancements.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and develop a highly technical team supporting application system development, production support, and testing.
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead software development activities for assigned areas in support of client requests, new sales, strategic initiatives, product development, and internal enhancements.
  • Establish priorities for work requests and provide technical direction.
  • Take responsibility for quality and timeliness, adjusting resources and escalating major issues based on business needs.
  • Ensure methodology is followed and promote high quality, on-time work.
  • Drive resolution of issues and roadblocks.
  • Participate in the development of Divisional plans and communicate these and progress with team(s).
  • Evaluate industry and technical trends and contribute to development of application systems and testing.
  • Participate in Divisional budgeting, forecasting, and planning.
  • Manage resource planning to achieve key software application systems and testing performance indicators within agreed budgets and Service/Operational Level Agreements.
  • Develop strong relationships internally and with partners and clients.
  • Act as an ambassador and senior subject matter expert in client meetings and sales support.
  • May manage key vendor relationships.
  • Ensure application systems development processes are compliant with corporate and regulatory standards.
  • Contribute to the development of IT policies and standards.
  • Lead responses to internal and external audits and remediation of any issues.
  • Serve as an escalation point for teams.
  • Contribute to the development of strategy, risk management, productivity, and quality management within the team.
  • Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of programs and development.
  • Collaborate with senior management to perform continual process improvements.
  • Manage the transition to new tools and processes.
  • May lead teams that perform testing and/or manage vendor relationships for testing.
  • Act as a senior technical subject matter expert and escalation point on technical issues.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study from an accredited university (relevant experience in lieu of degree may be considered).
  • Typically a minimum of 10 years related professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5-6 years experience in a managerial position.

Nice to Have

  • Master's Degree in a related field of study from an accredited university.
  • Prior Global Payments, payment, or technology industry experience.
