About the Position As the Director of Financial Operations, you will play a pivotal role in driving accounting and reporting activities for an emerging public biotechnology organization. Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, you will manage monthly financial closure processes, including journal entry preparation, financial analyses, and comprehensive financial statement development. You will collaborate on independent audit execution and coordinate Sarbanes-Oxley compliance activities, including documentation updates and control management. Key Responsibilities - Oversees preparation, analysis, and reconciliation of comprehensive financial statements and related reports - Manages complete accounting functions encompassing accounts receivable, payable, general ledger, asset tracking, payroll, and procurement - Administers Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, including documentation, control testing, and remediation - Provides senior leadership with strategic financial status updates - Coordinates quarterly and annual audit activities - Develops and implements accounting systems, policies, and procedural frameworks - Monitors team performance, identifies potential challenges, and implements corrective strategies - Conducts specialized financial analyses supporting organizational objectives - Directly supervises 1-2 finance team members - Executes comprehensive supervisory responsibilities aligned with organizational policies Required Qualifications - CPA or CMA certification mandatory - Bachelor's degree or equivalent - Minimum ten years of relevant professional experience - Comprehensive accounting and financial reporting expertise - Demonstrated employee supervision capabilities - Ability to effectively collaborate across management levels - Superior organizational and analytical skills - Adaptability and enthusiasm for dynamic work environments - Commitment to maintaining exceptional professional standards - Exceptional written and verbal communication capabilities - Advanced proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft Office suite
