WSP India is seeking an Assistant Bridge Engineer to join the Bridges Department in Bengaluru. In this role, you will deliver multidiscipline bridge design projects, including highway and pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, drainage structures, and special projects. You will work within the Canadian CRC Bridge team, assisting project managers and leads with a focus on client delivery and technical excellence.
What You'll Do
- Conduct analysis, preliminary, and detailed design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other civil structures.
- Perform Bridge Load Ratings, assessments, and rehabilitation design.
- Prepare technical analysis and design, including cost estimating and quantity take-offs.
- Assist in the review of shop drawings.
- Prepare reports in the English language.
- Liaise with all discipline team members.
What We're Looking For
- A post graduate degree in Civil Engineering with 2 to 4 years of postgraduate experience with a reputed structural engineering consultancy firm.
- Superior technical understanding, design abilities, and current knowledge of bridge technologies.
- Strong abilities to work with various software packages.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Solid understanding of QA/QC and Environmental Health and Safety practices and requirements.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Experience with technical writing and minutes preparation.
- Ability to work under pressure and with minimum supervision.
- Ability to assist in multiple projects and effectively prioritize.
- Ability to estimate design level of effort and meet milestone schedule deliverables.
- A team player with a willingness to help others and collaborate.
- Cultural awareness.
Nice to Have
- Ability to acquire a Professional Engineer Licence with any of the Canadian Provinces.
- Solid understanding of other design requirements like drainage/hydraulic design, environmental design/mitigation measures, engineering surveys, and geotechnical investigations.
- Solid understanding of Transportation standards and design practices for the provinces of BC, Alberta, Manitoba, and Ontario.
- Familiarity with the BC, Alberta, Manitoba, or Ontario regulatory environment and experience with approval processes.
- French language proficiency.
- Experience working on overseas assignments or projects following international design standards.
