Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is hiring a DED Applications Engineer to lead advanced additive manufacturing initiatives. You will translate complex designs into high-precision builds using 3- to 5-axis robotic welding systems, driving production excellence for Directed Energy Deposition and Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing platforms.
What You'll Do
- Program, operate, and maintain 3- to 5-axis industrial robotic welding systems for additive manufacturing.
- Prepare, slice, and optimize builds on DED and WAAM platforms, ensuring precision and repeatability.
- Utilize CAD/CAM software such as Siemens NX, Mastercam, Sculpt Print, and WAMSoft to develop production pipelines.
- Apply metallurgical knowledge and thermal dynamics expertise to predict and control process outcomes.
- Lead and mentor team members on end-to-end additive production workflows.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot, optimize, and improve production processes.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, quality standards, and operational procedures.
- Contribute to process innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
What We're Looking For
- Hands-on experience with industrial additive manufacturing systems such as GEFERTECH and AML3D.
- Strong understanding of welding automation, robotic arc welding, and offline programming.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software: Siemens NX, Mastercam, Sculpt Print, and WAMSoft.
- Solid foundation in metallurgy and thermal dynamics as they relate to welding and additive processes.
- U.S. Citizenship is required due to customer and regulatory requirements.
- Willingness to relocate to the Danville, VA facility.
- Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a high-precision environment.
