The University of Chicago is hiring a Data Science Analyst to join its Section of Hematology/Oncology. You will maintain and deploy algorithms for detecting and classifying cells in biomedical image data and analyze spatial transcriptomic data, focusing on the tumor microenvironment in breast and bladder cancers.
What You'll Do
- Optimize and maintain algorithms in biomedical image analysis pipelines.
- Validate algorithm performance on novel datasets.
- Analyze spatial transcriptomic data to evaluate spatial patterns of genes in tissues.
- Perform statistical analyses on data extracted from bio-images and other spatial data.
- Document and version code and results.
- Assist in analyzing data to extract applicable information.
- Perform research projects that provide analysis for programs and initiatives.
- May assist staff or faculty members with data manipulation, statistical applications, programming, analysis, and modeling.
What We're Looking For
- College or university degree in a related field.
- Knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
Nice to Have
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or Data Science.
- Experience processing and managing both image and tabular data.
- Proficiency in Python, BASH, SLURM, and PyTorch; familiarity with R.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation: $24.04 - $31.25 per hour.
