Role Overview
The Dairy Focus Consultant delivers specialized nutrition strategies and ongoing technical support to dairy operations, working directly with farm teams to optimize animal health and productivity. This position emphasizes hands-on engagement, with regular visits to dairies throughout the territory to assess performance, recommend improvements, and ensure effective use of products post-sale.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver tailored nutrition advice and training to enhance product outcomes and support herd performance.
- Identify and engage new dairy operations to expand market presence and support regional growth.
- Track monthly performance metrics against targets and take corrective actions to meet goals.
- Partner with market development teams to organize and deliver product demonstrations, promotional offers, and educational sessions through distribution networks.
- Attend collaborative meetings with dairy producers, feed mills, and internal teams to align on objectives and share insights.
- Assist colleagues through training and mentorship to strengthen team capabilities.
- Resolve complex technical or operational challenges independently, referring only the most advanced issues to higher support levels.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support customer success and business objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
- At least four years of professional experience in sales, business development, or a related agricultural sector.
- Background in dairy production, animal nutrition, feed science, or animal health.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time, including daily visits to farm locations.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing required.
Preferred Background
- Master’s degree in animal nutrition, animal health, or a closely related discipline.
- Two or more years of experience as a dairy nutrition consultant or in technical sales roles.
- Experience interpreting on-farm dairy data and translating it into actionable insights for clients, in coordination with internal dairy specialists.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role based in the Madison, Wisconsin area, with primary work conducted from a home office. Regular fieldwork requires up to 50% travel to dairy farms within the region.
