Responsibilities
- Support classroom instruction and help maintain a safe, welcoming learning environment
- Supervise students throughout the school day (classroom, hallways, playground, cafeteria)
- Follow provided lesson plans and school procedures
- Utilize school-approved curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students
- Build positive relationships with students and school staff
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Eligible for or currently hold a State of Michigan Substitute Teaching License
- Minimum of 60 completed college credit hours (education or related field preferred)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage confidential information appropriately
- Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks
Nice to Have
- Experience working with students or in an urban environment is a plus—but not required
