Role Overview
As a Customer Service Representative, you’ll be the primary point of contact for customers at a U-Haul center, delivering clear guidance and reliable service. You’ll assist with rental transactions, equipment inspections, and product education, ensuring each customer has a smooth and informed experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Support customers in person by guiding them through U-Haul product options and rental procedures
- Use smartphone-based U-Scan tools to process rentals and track inventory efficiently
- Inspect and maintain rental equipment, including checking fluid levels and ensuring operational safety
- Prepare rental agreements, process returns, and manage invoices accurately
- Hook up and move trucks and trailers as needed for customer use
- Install trailer hitches and wiring systems
- Fill propane tanks, with certification provided after hire
- Operate a forklift, with training and certification available through the company
- Engage in ongoing learning through U-Haul University to build skills and knowledge
- Complete assigned duties that support daily center operations
Qualifications
Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Compensation & Incentives
Hourly pay ranges from $15.00 to $17.00, with opportunities for bonuses. A $100 hiring bonus is offered, and an additional $300 cash bonus is available upon successful completion of the U-Haul Equipment Inspection and Verification certification program. The role includes participation in the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), offering long-term financial benefits.

Work Environment
This is an onsite position located at 2125 Dempster St, Evanston, Illinois. The role requires physical activity, including moving equipment and working outdoors.
